PayPal Paid Me for the Facebook PayPal Wishlist App!

Tweet I was surprised to see a note in my inbox. Paypal just sent me money. I logged in to my Paypal account and it is indeed in my account!

Last year Paypal launched this Paypal Wishlist Application in Facebook. I just posted my wishlist and invited friends to post theirs. For every referral, Paypal will credit $1 in your account and Paypal did!

I Just Received a BDO Virtual Card

Tweet Yesterday afternoon, I was surprised by the loud knocking outside, and there was an impatient mailman looking for Ruth (my surname here). Right. She's right infront of you. Not quite convinced, he requested for my ID. Now, this should be serious. I saw the envelope with BDO logo. Alright, I know that it is not my monthly bill. I am expecting it to arrive next week. When I got the envelope (delivered by an unknown courier), I know there is a card inside. Knowing BDO, I was thinking of BDO rewards card or maybe another SM Advantage card.

But the envelope says "Are you ready to shop online?". Hell yeah, who are you talking to? I've been shopping online since 2007! Ok, so when I opened the envelope, BDO graciously offered me a BDO Virtual Card. I have heard about this before. They have it in other countries. A special credit card which you only use for online transactions. Am I one of the few credit card holders who have received this type of card? Did BDO base it on my previous billing statements?

I searched the net for relevant topics about BDO Virtual Card, but it only landed me to a twitter post announcing the receipt of the same card. BDO's website is not even updated yet.

Anyway,  it is a card (literal card), with different credit card number and verification digits specific for online shopping (nope, it cannot be swiped!). This is for extra protection for online shopping (as we know, unsecured sites can hack our credit card information and use our accounts). The BDO Virtual Card does have a credit limit (which is more than half of my credit limit). Note that it is tied with my credit line.
It says that it is free as long as I keep my credit card active and current.

To be honest, I am quite impress with BDO for coming up with such a card. Plus, there is no need for customers (like me) to line up and enroll for this. Two thumbs up.

Now, I'm thinking of using and testing this Virtual Card.. Let's try Sephora..

Victoria Secret Semi-Annual Sale! Shopping It Is!

Tweet I had contemplated for 8 hours if I should order stuff from Victoria Secret. They are having their Semi-Annual Sale and I just fell inlove with their swimwear collection! Tops as low as $6.99, bottoms at $5.99!

Here are the stuff I bought:

 

With a little pushing from my friends (who I think are also hesitant to buy and to cheer on my impulse buying), I clicked Purchase and gave VS permission to process my orders. My bill $127.94.

I had to be creative and used the online coupons. I have to add some more undies so that I could avail of the free shipping (cost around $17 to New York state) (CODE: FREE100) and free animal print tote bag for orders more than $125 (CODE: SWIMGIFT).

I got an online coupon FA918289 for 25% off for any item (VS will give discount to the most expensive item on your cart) and FA917785 for Free VS underwear; BUT these will only work if you will use a VS Angel Card.

Now I got to work harder for the next shopping experience.

Good thing my pay statement gave me good figures.

After Party Party

After the kid's birthday party, we went straight to Richmonde hotel where my friend is staying. Hennessy is waiting for us. We downed four shots each and we went straight to the steamed pool to take a dip.

Fun. fun. fun. Hotel's pool schedule is such a spoiler, we closed the facility at 9PM.

We went back to the room and downed more shots of alcohol. Two more friends came and I know alcohol is already kicking my brains (and stomach). The last conversation I had is my friend, Nellie. We were talking about a guy in a restaurant who we worked with. We're searching through our brains trying to remember the guy's name (I know, it is not Marvin!).

And the next thing I know, I am kissing the hotel's basin.

I slept for 7 straight hours and I got a sore eye on the left eye.

Could it be the Hennessy or the chlorine?

All I know it was fun.

Reunions

Tweet What really happens during reunions?!

First, people will ask how you are doing today.. where do you work, what's your status.. where have you been, who have you seen..

Second, people will talk about the past.. past booboos.. experiences.. the reason why you almost did not march during graduation, the teachers you never like.. and the classmates you love to hate

Third, people will bid goodbyes and ask when the next reunion or get-together will be.

Basically that's it. A few pictures here and there (actually not a few!). Count the number of attendants and count one camera for each (well, I have a friend who brought two cameras!).

This is exactly the scenario last Sunday. We attended our friend's kid's 7th birthday party. She's lucky that they went home in Manila almost the same schedule and we were able to see each other.

Now I am just waiting for tagged photos in Facebook.

Need A Shoe That Fits!

Tweet Louboutins, Jimmy Choo, Blahnik.. There are so many brands of shoes for women, that I know the new Imelda Marcoses of this time is so ecstatic that they have a wide selection to choose from.

Being part of the unfortunate few whose shoe size is 2 digits (size 10 or 11 for US sizing, and a 41 and 42 for UK sizing), I just felt so jealous and envious of those who can just fit any shoes they want. No matter what color, size or style!


I am in need of a good site and store which can give me the shoes (with my size) that my heart so desire! I need boots, more wedge shoes, more stilettos and probably campbell shoes!

Got suggestions?!

H&M opening in Manila this year

Tweet Rumor has it. H&M is opening a store in Manila. Although the store is not yet confirmed (whether SM or Ayala), the sure thing is that the bidding has ended and there is a winner. For those who are still at lost, H&M is a UK clothing brand. I was thinking F&H got its nick from H&M.

What is confirmed though is Jimmy Cho is collaborating with H&M. Read the full story here. 

I could just imagine fashionistas, primadonnas and wannabes will be swarming to the newest H&M store once it opens its doors, just like what they did to Zara. Just like how many bids they are betting on Ebay for every H&M item listed, new or used.

I am not a big fan of H&M (my friend is!), but seeing more and more designer stores and shops in Manila is an advantage for our economy. I heard that Forever21 will also open a store in Manila. (Yes, we do have the Forever21 store in malls which carry some pieces from the original Forever21, but note that most of the pieces that they sell are the same ones from tiangges). The thought of Forever21 opening a store in Manila makes it less appealing for me. I love the brand. I love the clothes and collection. Maybe I am just a little too selfish about fashion. I have this mentality that once a thing/a person/an event hits the mass market, I tend to dislike and disown it.

Aren't we all like that?!

Fashion Forecast for 2010

Tweet Yet again I did a closet clean up last weekend and it is true that I only get to use and wear 40% of my wardrobe. The remaining 60% consist of clothes which I have not worn for the last year, clothes which are soon to be worn, clothes which are awaiting a special occasion to be worn, clothes which are still new complete with tags and paper bags.

It's a brand new year and stylistas are on the look out for the new trends for 2010. I have learned my lesson. No more impulse buys on the one-hit pieces. I can never go wrong with classics paired with few stylish accents. I have seen a lot of Lady Gaga inspired clothes. That fashion I am not sure if I can pull off.

Boy Shorts and Hot Pants

Well I guess ladies are getting more and more daring. Time to show off those legs. Shorts had been a wardrobe staple. We see ladies in shorts at parties, and events; not just at the beach.

The Boyfriend Blazer

I personally love this piece. A masculine look under a cute mini dress, or tank top and jeans. Bet, the much-hated paddings will soon come back! Dread not!


Future Warrior Trend

Metal plating, tunics; especially in leather, chain-mail inspired detailing, and tribal inspired motifs. Will see alot of them in boutiques, designer shops and tiangges.

Jumpsuits

This fashion piece will stay. I personally love jumpsuits! The only thing that is keeping me from wearing it is the hassle of dressing up and practically undressing when you need to use the washroom.

Torn Jeans

I don't think the boyfriend rolled-up jeans had been a big hit here in Manila? Probably not alot are brave to wear such. Besides, it is not the most flattering jeans for the butt. The picture above shoes the two must see trends this year. Boyfriend blazers in Lady Gaga inspired fashion (and I have just mentioned the paddings!) with torn jeans. Just get your old skinny jeans and do some art with sharp razor and you are good to go.

Mind you a kiss with a tongue! One lucky girl! The name is Angela, and I heard she got a lot of follower in twitter! Now she's gonna be a celebrity! We will remember her as the girl who got to kiss Jon Knight.

Calling All BDO Credit Card Holders: Free Brownies from Brownies Unlimited

Tweet Just claimed two boxes of assorted brownies from Brownies Unlimited. Saw the POP that says BDO cardholders are entitled to 1 box of 1 dozen assorted brownies for every Php3,000 worth accumulated receipt. Minimum charge per receipt/transaction should be Php1,000. I am not certain on the transaction date, but should be between November 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009 I think.

I checked the BDO website for this promo and it is not listed on the site. But just the same, I searched through my receipts and found my charge slips.

I thought I could get 3 boxes. I submitted 3 receipts; 1 worth Php1,000, the other is Php2,000 something, and the other is worth Php6,000. I thought my Php6,000 charge slip could get me 2 boxes, but no, even if I charge Php10,000, I will only get 1 box.

I still have a few charge slips here which I am saving for next week. My nephew and niece are ecstatic, but I worry about diabetes and toothache. Let's save some for the rainy days. ;)
