I headed to National Book Store Tutuban branch to use my GC worth 1,500, and I know I went to the right place.
Firsts things first. I grabbed the Mini Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella book priced at Php615. Shopaholic is my favorite series (maybe because I can relate? or just simply because I am lusting over Luke Brandon). OK. DON'T PANIC. I know the book will start with those two sentences, and boy I am right!
Decision point? What book to get next? It was a tie between A Year in High Heels by Camilla Morton and Why Men Marry Bitches: A Woman's Guide to Winning Her Man's Heart by Sherry Argov. But I already have the first book by Camilla Morton (How to Walk in High Heels) - and although the book is a good guide book, I think buying another guide book is too much. As for knowing why men marry bitches.. I am already one so I guess I would just wait for my jerk to give me the ring. So I just checked the bookseller list and saw What the Dog Saw (Php285). Having read the book Blink by the same author, I know I should get this book - at least I have a little something for leisure and something for the brains.
I did a little math, and I still have money to spare. I checked more, and more books about relationship (I have read the books about Venus and Mars), and even checked books about leadership (do I really need this at this time? No. So I skipped the aisle. Then I saw the black book called The Game by Neil Strauss. Yes, this is the one which was my friend was talking about. I have to read what's inside. So the book goes inside the cart.
I asked my mom if she wanted to buy some cook books, but she has already bought alot. I still need to buy some more books and maybe pocket books. I checked the Bargain rack which sells hard bound books at Php99. I was a bit hesistant to buy from this rack since most of the books are fiction/romance/about princess/and more romance, plus I could find most of them from BookSale. But then I was glad I saw this book called Simplexity by Jeffrey Klugger; with a teaser why simple things become complex (and how complex things can become simple). I want something interesting, and browsing through the pages I know it is worth my Php99.
Now, I have decided I would get the latest issue of Cosmopolitan and would just pay for any excess amount.
When I went to the cashier and the lady started punching numbers in, I was surprised to know that the Mini Shopaholic book is at 20% discount! This is the only time I felt that I do not need a discount! Decision time again, I told the cashier to suspend my orders as I need to grab something (a magazine) to add to my cart. I saw my mom reading this cookbook, so I told her we were getting it.
So a little math and lots of decision, I just paid Php50 for the excess amount of the total bill. I love GC's!!!
