I Am No Mujer Ala Kama!

My mom has just had an operation and I am compelled to do household chores. I found her at the kitchen when I got home from the office, and so I helped her cooked lunch today.

They say that ladies who can't do household chores, and basic cooking, are only good at bed. Although I am very confident about my bedroom skills, I never want to be tagged as such. I have a degree in hotel and restaurant management, but it is ironic that you will seldom see me in the kitchen. Probably only when I am doing the dishes, or just checking the cupboard and ref for eats.

Right, so what we have for lunch is Pinakbet. How do I do it?

Sautee onion and garlic.
Add tomatoes.
Add a tablespoon of bagoong isda (available in your local market).
Simmer for a few minutes. Now we are ready to add our veggies.
Add squash (kalabasa) first.
Add ampalaya, talong, sitaw and okra.
Add kangkong last and cover.
Let it simmer for a few minutes.

Serve with pork chop or friend tilapia!

Flap Jack's: Overpriced and Overrated

We just had breakfast at FlapJack's and all I can say is, it is a disappointment.

If not for the free mobile coupon that we got, I wouldn't have invited my friends to eat breakfast at this place. First off, the food is overpriced and not worth the money.

There were four of us in the group, and two of us have a mobile coupon worth Php250. We asked the server if it's okay to use the coupon, and she said yes, but it should be one coupon per table (which is quite unfair since it has never been noted in the online site). We begged if we could use both coupons since there were four of us, she excused hereself and asked the manager. When she came back, she was firmed that it is only one coupon per table. From the manager's point of view, this is such a wrong move for a marketing campaign. What I was thinking is that the manager is aiming for higher sales for that particular transaction. But honestly, his/her move disappointed all of us. Maybe the store could get additional Php250 worth of sales for not letting us use the other coupon, but they lost four probable repeat businesses from us, and a positive word of mouth (what have they gained? a bad review from my blog!).

Anyway, I ordered a set menu which is a Breaded Chicken with Cheese meal (which comes with free soup and fruits dessert - originally should be Fruit Cup from Del Monte, but they served me fresh fruits cup), it costs around P197, but this can't be used for the coupon. Fine. One ordered a chocolate filled pancake - 3 layers (Php245) and two ordered Tocilog (Php285).

Have I mentioned that the food server is not the most witty and attentive server that morning? I have to repeat my order, over and over before she could jot it down.

Meals were served and our verdict: Nothing special. The Breaded Chicken with Cheese is bland, if not for the sauce. Tocilog is like every tocilog in town. I wonder if they use Pampanga's Best? Tastes exactly the same. And as for the pancake? I would still go for Crepes d' France. Although it didn't give me a rough feeling in my mouth, a little more chocolate sauce and toppings would prompt me to give them a two thumbs up.

We only get to enjoy the experience because of the topics that we discussed over breakfast. I just wish that if stores would come up with promos such as this, they would prepare their stores and staff to accommodate requests and answer questions.
Am I so mean about my review? I guess not. I am just expecting alot since Flap Jack's is a shared holding of Itallianis and Friday's - and these two stores equate good dining experience. But for Flap Jack's it's not.

Gyne Experience and Women Worries

Yesterday I went to see an OB-Gyne. For the record, I am not pregnant. I just worry about my body and decided to have a check up.

First tip, don't bring your mom with you. The doc will ask very private questions, and I am sure you wouldn't want them discussed with your mom behind you. Do I have choice? No. But since I am living a celibate life for years now, I don't need to worry. My answer to the very simple question - "may contact na?", is a simple Yes.

Anyway, my gyne asked me to lie down so she could check me up. Second tip, trim/shave/wax if needed. Although going to an OB-Gyne is a professional intent, you still wouldn't want to surprise your doctor.

She used this gadget to open me up, and I was cursing. This is not the way I imagine it to be re-divirginized! All the while my mom is verbally imagining and discussing how painful it must have been - and I was like - "I know, right?", and I wish you would stop. It is not helping me.

The doctor asked me to relax, and it is comforting to know that my muscles are still working. Working perfectly fine.

After that procedure, I can barely stand up. But more than the pain I have experienced, I am much more worried about the result of the papsmear. Sometimes, I wish I were a guy - then I wouldn't need to worry about PMS, papsmear, cervical cancer and the like. At least, there is only one dreaded experience of circumsition.. and it is done.

On My Favorite Scent: Back to Kenzo

Kenzo is my first official perfume. I meant, the first designer perfume I had ever worn and I just fell inlove with it. I had gone through the phase when colognes became part of my daily life and everyday bag (part of every teenage years, I guess?). I have this thing that I feel naked without a perfume on. Don't you feel the same way?

To be fair with other designer perfumes, I tried (Issey Miyake, Gucci Envy and Ralph, BVulgari), and sniffed some of them, but there is always something comforting about wearing your favorite (was it just me?!).

Next to Kenzo, I have used and worn the Heavenly Perfume of Victoria Secret collection. I had this guy coworker who loves the scent too much, that he always visited my desk to borrow the perfume bottle. He told me that a certain perfume is not for everybody, and Heavenly is just right for me. I wish I knew the reason, but he just told me that Heavenly has this characteristic the same as mine. And he said I have yet to figure it out. Although I love Heavenly too much, I just don't feel too sexy and comfortable wearing it.

If there is such a thing as an "ex" for perfumes, I have had only few (Ralph, Gucci Envy, Issey Miyake, Vulgari and Heavenly).

So now I am back to my own love (after what? two years?). I just love it's sweet, feminine scent; and it does not come too strong. And for reason that I have not found an explanation of, it seems that everybody loves Kenzo; with the first sniff from the bottle, Kenzo works its wonders to people.

I had used it several years back, and its scent works like a time machine bringing me memories and people of the past. Kenzo reminds most of my closest friends of me. Now, I want to give the new friends and people I meet a thing (or a scent) to associate me with, other than my towering height. I guess that's the true sense of chemistry.

Yeah, like a true love. There is always this one scent that is just meant for you. And Kenzo is meant for me.

What scent is your true love?

Frustration: Sony Digicam Cannot Be Detected by My PC

I am so frustrated!!

For some reason, my pc refused to read my Sony Digicam. I am trying to upload my pictures but these supposedly high-tech stuff just don't cooperate. I even tried loading the memory card but it failed. I searched online and found that the culprit may have been the USB. But I am guessing it is more of the problem with my computer.

I restarted my pc several times, but I just failed. Let's try again later..

On the Joy of Bidding..

Waaah!! I just bidded and won some items on ebay and I just realized I never wanted them at all.

I was so pressured about the ticking time, and the number of bidders, that I even woke up earlier than usual just to bid on them. I just realized that the dresses are not of the best quality.. geez.. I should be reading the description more carefully.. I could even get nicer tops and dresses from the thrift shops!

Waaah!! Lesson learned.
