What Type of Crown? Not for Beauty Queens

My hair is screaming salon!!!

Looking back at my pictures last year, I just realized how healthy and fine my mane looked then. But during those time, I just find it so frizzy and not-so-stylish. The same feelings and reactions when I was in High School. My classmates used to tease me that my hair can launch and market shampoo and hair-care products. How flattering, I know, but at that time, I don a wash-and-wear hair, kept tidy with a headband. I never realized that I was wearing such a great "crown".

I wish I still have that mane. Ive been sporting a Japanese style hair cut and I am praying so hard to have my locks grow longer faster. Hair strands look irregular and it is so unmanageable - meaning, I cannot even put it as a bun. Wearing headband is not even an option. I have to suffer for months to wait for my hair to grow and reach the point where all strands length are even (imagine a girl wearing a hair extension? that's how my hair looks and amen to the texture). I remember that shampoo named Flex - it makes your hair grow faster. Im not sure if it is still available in the market?!.

I'm not the most daring woman when it comes to hairstyles. For some reason, I always go for the "safe" look. Bun. Headband. Ponytail. Half-pony. Chopsticks. Nothing fancy and loud. When everyone is parading their new hair color and highlights, I am that simple jane, safe and contented with my natural dark brown hair. It is only this year when my hair had a first taste of hair coloring (and it was without my knowledge! My hair stylish used a colored cellophane in my hair!).

It's been over a year when curls graced every fashion magazine's pages. I must admit it looks sexy and seductive. BUT, it should not be the type of a trying hard curls that looks like Barbie's. I will go for the curls which start at the middle with natural curls and waves. Just the perfect crown I would want to wear. And I wish I wouldn't feel sorry for wearing such a crown after a month.

Victoria Disappoints Me..

I just used the new Victoria Secrets undies I hoarded a few months ago (everyone would salivate at their offer of 5 for $25!). But I am quite disappointed with this batch (actually, the time I ordered this batch online, I was actually disappointed with the customer service I got that at some point I consider returning the items).

I used to love its comfy feel and its durability. I used the plain jane ones as everyday undies, and have some sexy daring pieces for dress-up nights.

I was surprised to see that the crotch has its signs of wear and tear, with just two washes. The waistbands are not that nice too. The material itself is not that soft and cottony.

I think, I better head off to La Senza store and grab new undies. It's been a week, and I just can't forget the excitement it is giving me everytime I think of the store and all the nice pieces displayed on the racks!

Getting A Lil Too Old for A Night Life?

I slept for 15 hours. If not for the noisy neighbors we have, I could still make a 20-hour sleep.

Last night, technically, Saturday night, I met up with my friends and former coworkers. The funny thing about reunions is that there should always be an endless talks about the funny things that happened in the past. For those who were not present, expect that you guys would be the topic of the group. And we never get tired of bashing the people we never liked. Haha.

It should take a balikbayan friend to visit the country, for us, Philippine strugglers to get together and share the fun.

I hope I can share the pictures here in blogger, but I want to keep this blog anonymous (for the security of my account and my friends' identity too). Just the same, pictures are all over Facebook accounts and plastered in every friend's walls.

Dinner was fine (my friend chose a Filipino themed restaurant somewhere in Tomas Morato), and we went to this place called Gerardo's after. Actually my second time to go to that place. I was a bit surprised with my friend's suggestion. I teased him how he had changed and suddenly hang out in this type of place. But I can never blame him, the place offers cheap bottles. But Im no beer lover, and so I just downed a glass of Kurant Sprite.

I must admit that my body is no longer immune with this type of drink. It was okay, not the usual drink that would kick your system, but I was not hoping to get drunk anyway. Was it just me? Or am I getting old? Suddenly, I never get to appreciate the night life. Im fine staying at home, watching a great movie in my room, or probably just logging in and do online shopping (like what I am doing at this very moment).

Let's Play Chef with Ivillage!

Don't we all love to salivate over those colorful cookbooks? But with the advancement of technology, we don't need to go through the hassle of browsing through bookstores for best selling cookbooks or worry about missed cooking shows. Moms, ladies, kids and even gents who love and passionate about cooking can just log in to the site to explore the fun world of cooking. You Can See More Life Made Easy Videos Here.

I have a background in baking and cooking, and I am quite impressed how the site presented each recipe videos as if they could be done just like magic. All the food featured in the site look so yummy that it makes me want to run to Walmart and buy all the ingredients and do my thing in the kitchen. Yes, all the items and ingredients are available in Walmart so viewers not need to worry about where to find rare secret ingredients (this is actually my main concern when scanning cookbooks and watching cooking shows). Having the items available in your local Walmart store makes the recipes so affordable. It is nice to know that the recipes are not just easy to prepare but are budget friendly - one recipe yields 4 servings and is perfect for a family of 4.

The site is so perfect for moms who are expected to be busy juggling work, housekeeping and taking care of kids. Fun videos such as the one for Vanilla Ice Cream cake would be a great bonding activity with kids. The site also offers crafting and gift-making ideas too.

For single ladies who are trying to impress their husbands-to-be, they should definitely check out the easy and affordable steak recipes.

Check out the site and you might even catch Top Chef Contestant, Ariane Duarte on several videos.

Better grab the apron and head to the kitchen, play each video and let's play chef today!

Loving and Hating to Eat

My doctor prescribed an appetite booster after my loss of appetite two weeks ago..

Now I feel like I always have space in my stomach, that I always crave for food - anything sweet, unhealthy and salty - they are most welcome!

I just treated myself to a Fastfood meal the other day (I never had Fastfood for the longest time). And every day, it seems that I am feeding myself with all the junk food I can think of. My coworker who is next to me is just spoiling me (which is a good thing).

I always tell myself I will do exercises and work out. I hope tommorrow I will have the will and time to do it!

Sale Alert: Shopping Emergency

I practically spent my weekend in the malls. I actually missed strolling around stores and every store (I am so used to online shopping and I ditched the fun of malling). I accompanied my mom to the hospital for two days (Saturday and Sunday), and it's a good thing that her doctor houses a clinic in Medical City in Trinoma. We just strolled around while waiting for our turn (mind you, getting sick would make you sicker when going to hospitals and falling in line - imagine sitting in vain with other patients who are coughing and getting sick to get attended).

I was surprised to see much improvement in the SM City. I am not a balikbayan, and I never lived in another country, but I never frequent the place for obvious reasons that there are other finer malls in the city. But to my surprise, SM carries popular US brands such as Mango, Nine West, BYSI, etc.

Then of course, Trinoma - being an Ayala property would never be a disappointment. I can't rant much about the structures and stores because these are already given. What I love most about my two-day mall trip are the banners which screams SALE 70%. And they are plastered all over the stores' glass panels.

Mango: up to 70% off. There aren't much to buy.. same old shirts with MNG prints emblazoned in front. I am never a fan of these types of shirts. For those who are
interested, these are on sale for P295. There aren't much nice pieces left. Dresses are at 50% off which prices start at P1,995. The best buys are the jeans which prices start at P999, and trousers at P599.

Zara: up to 70% off. Tops at P345 made of think cloths and untasteful designs (sorry, this is my blog and I have the right to say whatever I want to say). There are shoes on the rack which sell at P1995 for every pair. Too bad, the store doesn't have my size. Dresses at P1,495 and P1,995 - these are already at 50% off. Though I love the cuts and styles, I have to say pass. My mom can make dresses for me at a cheaper price. ;)

Folded and Hung: end of season sale. Tops at P300 which I think are mass-produced for this event. I have never seen those designs before. Pants are at P300 each as well. I tried on some pairs but they never looked good on me. These are the types which resemble an elephant pants style with suspenders. Other racks offer 10% discounts for new designs and collections.

There are other stores on sale such as Gap (Im not a fan, it's way too expensive here), Top Shop, CMG (they are offering broken sizes shoes at P500) and Promod (there aren't much nice pieces when I checked). But the bottom line, I still went ome with shopping bags on those two days we were at the mall. And Im loving my credit card for saving me from shopping emergencies such as this.

I Have Been Shot Last Friday!

I am indeed fighting for life. I actually had my first shot of the Cervical Cancer Vaccine last Friday. Good thing that I am not so scared of vaccines and syringes, though my arm feels so numb and sore until now. Not to scare anyone but doc uses "big" syringe for this one, and the vaccine is oil based so you would really feel it running in your blood streams.

Women, ladies - single or not, and kids as young as 9 years old (if I remember it right) can get a vaccine. Visit the site and help cross out the Cervical Cancer.

Btw, the band is cute with its little X mark. ;)
